Healthy Living Newsletter - January 6, 2004
Volume 1, No. 1
Issue Date: Tuesday, January 6, 2004
Publisher: Mellanie True Hills, The Healthy & Productivity Revitalizer
Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Healthy Living Newsletter. We plan to bring you information--bi-weekly tips, research, actionable steps, and occasional musings--to help you optimize your health, lifestyle, and workstyle. Since most of us are overwhelmed with information, each issue will be brief, and may point you to other resources for more information.
After having a close call in emergency heart surgery last year, 2004 finds me incredibly thankful to be alive and excited about sharing healthful information with you, my friends. Thanks to the many of you who have given me so much encouragement. For those to whom this message was forwarded, here is some background information, including how women have different heart symptoms from men.
It is time for those New Year's resolutions. If you are like most of us, you have resolved to lose weight, improve your health, get your finances in order, or spend more time with family. Consider adding Get Enough Sleep and Eliminate Stress to that list. Just what you need--two more things to focus on! But doing these will improve your overall health and make losing weight easier.
For example, during sleep, the body replenishes seratonin, your brain's happiness chemical. Getting at least 6 hours sleep each night will make you feel better, ease stress, and help you stick to those other resolutions. Keeping your seratonin level high will also help you deal with those gray, dreary days that are all too common in January in some places. For more details, see the articles linked in above. Though they were written for an audience of women, they apply equally to men.

Happy New Year!
